What the service does

TakedownRoute resolves a web address against public DNS and RDAP records, matches what it finds against the register of designated agents published by the U.S. Copyright Office, and links to the official record. It reports what those sources say at the moment of the lookup.

This is not legal advice

Whether material infringes your copyright, whether an exception applies, and whether to send a notice are legal questions this service does not answer. A notice sent knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing carries liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). If the answer matters, ask a lawyer.

Accuracy, and its limits

Public records go stale. A designation can be superseded or withdrawn between our read of the register and your lookup, DNS changes without notice, and a site behind a CDN hides its origin host by design. Confirm against the official record before acting — that is why every entry links to it.

The service is provided as is, without warranty. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the U.S. Copyright Office or by any provider named on it. Provider names and trade names belong to their owners and appear here to identify the register entry.

Fair use of the service

Look up addresses you have a reason to look up. Do not use the service to build bulk pressure lists, to harass an operator, or to automate volumes that degrade it for other people. Access may be limited without notice where it is.

Alerts

We re-check each watched address once a day and email you when what it returns changes. An alert reports the response code the address gave, before and after — nothing more. It is not a statement that anything was removed, and not legal advice. Reply to any alert and the record is deleted.
